Featuring events and performances in music, theatre, dance, film and visual arts as well as interactive and children’s events, the 2012 festival featured over 2000 performers in 50 venues throughout the town. As a result, the festival has been dubbed "The World’s Biggest Burns Night Celebration". ==Events== The name "Big Burns Supper" refers to the festival’s 3 day duration over the Burns Night weekend, when the birth and work of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns is celebrated across the world at gatherings known as Burns suppers.
